In the immortal words of Socrates, 'I drank what?'

So here it is... Yet another post geared towards meaningless fluff in a vain attempt to entertain.

Let us track, shall we, what we all have been drinking on a daily basis from this point forward. Alcohol only please... Include exact names and quantities for our amusement.

Time to truly see who the alcoholics really are...

UPDATE - Instead of just the 'what' and 'how much', feel free to elaborate on the repercussions of said quaffing. We all love a good drunky story now and then.

Alright, I'll go first. But let me say I gave up alcohol for Lent so I have some making up to do.

Friday: Two big bottles of Kirin Ichiban beer at a japanese steakhouse.
Also, canned yuengling and two or three ginormous shots of god knows what at Lemon Bar.

Saturday: no alcohol... but I did two step with Boris the Russian who said I looked like a Russian ballerina.

Sunday: beer. First from a pitcher of whatever was ordered at Ale House... then an orange blossom at Mellow Mushroom.

Monday: no alcohol.

Tuesday: none yet... YET.

Friday I had a Bottle of Kirin Ichiban, 1 red-headed-slut shot, and 2 cans of Yuengling. Sunday I had a pint of Hacker Pschorr Weiss beer with dinner. Nothing since.

This Friday I'm going to get somebody else to drive and get pretty much annihilated. I need it.

Saturday: 1 Amstel Light, 1 Red Hook IPA, and 2 other 'wheat beers'.

Sunday: 4 Michelob Ultras, 1 Red Hook IPA, and the rest of that bottle of Syrah.

Monday: Nada.

Tuesday: TBD

HA!!
Anon got you there, Maki!!!

I will make sure to write in my journal any drinking I do in Sweden. It might not be much for two reasons.
1. Tis expensive
2. I'm not sure I wanna get drunk in a foreign country when I don't speak the language even when I'm sober. It'd be my luck I'd try and wind up sounding like the Swedish Chef. And pissing someone off. And end up in Swedish jail.

OMG Tracy! How the hell can you go to Sweden and Denmark and not drink the beers!

Here are a couple of links that you need to print out and take with you for your new beer challenge.

Remember when Bennigan's used to have that 100+ beer challenge? If you drank them all from their list, you got your name on a plaque on the wall? Well this is just like that...

Now don't come home until you've made a 'dent' in these lists!

Denmark:
http://www.ratebeer.com/RateBeerBest/table.asp?title=Best+Beers+of+Denmark&file=denmark_beer.csv

Sweden:

Tue Apr 25, 01:41:00 PM
Blogger Tracy said...

Sweden, I can attempt...
Denmark, we are only there like two days. I'd be drunk the whole time. It doesn't take a whole lot.
And how am I supposed to tell from these lists which ones I might actually like???
1. Nynäshamns Fatlagrad Smörpundet Porter
2. Nils Oscar Imperial Stout
3. Ahlafors Kåtisbock
4. Jämtlands Oatmeal Porter
5. Närke Kulturbryggeri Närke Mörker

Tue Apr 25, 01:48:00 PM
Blogger Tracy said...

ah... they have descriptions.
great! more for me to attempt to read before I go!!!
ew... a beer that is described as "chewy" doesn't appeal to me.

Tue Apr 25, 01:51:00 PM
Blogger ANONYMOUS said...

Ah, yes...Dark & Chewy... Just the kind of beer you'll want as there's chill in the air over there.

I'd say just focus on the 'Gold' winners and print out the top 10 from both countries. I'd be interested in seeing how many you actually get to try.

If you're not into the dark stouts/porters, you might want to try the Jämtlands Bärnsten & Jämtlands Postiljon in Sweden. They sound at least a little bit 'lighter'.

Shit. Only 7:05pm and the BOT-eL is empty. Do I pop another, or switch to beer...

I think beer. Kegerator currently has a 1/6 keg of Widmer Hefeweizen. So, let's say 2 pints of that, and that'll do it for tonight. :)

Thu Apr 27, 06:10:00 PM
Blogger ANONYMOUS said...

Tonight it's gonna be a pork tenderloin, marinated overnight in a blend of Jerk seasoning, soy, red & black pepper, and Asian chili sauce.

I know, who cares about the food... here's the drink.
A St. Francis "Old Vines" Zinfandel 2003 from Sonoma County.

Early dinner tonight since I skipped lunch. So, while I'm grilling, this Zin is not too shabby. I won't bore you guys to death with wine-speak, so I'll stop now.

Have a good Friday night!

Probably 3 glasses of this will do it.

Fri Apr 28, 03:34:00 PM
Blogger ANONYMOUS said...

Oh well, looks like I've got to correct my Friday night drinking audit. The neighbors called and disturbed the 3 glasses of Zin. Now that we've just returned from the pool, it will have only been 1 glass of Zin, 2 Amstel Lights, and 3 Coronas.

Now we are all about to put a dent in the Keg, so I'd have to estimate I'll add another 3 pints of Hefeweizen.

Once again, have a nice Friday nite. I gotta wake up in time for the NFL Draft party at 11am and continue from there.
WooHoo!

BTW - I'm no Mary.. I'm still good for tomorrow night btw. :)

We've had so much friggin work to do yesterday, and again today, that our boss actually offered to give us off on Friday if we finish it all. Amazing. Too bad I've got every contractor and their brother scheduled to come over on Friday or I could start Cinco De Mayo up first thing in the morning.

In Philly, the local radio station 'sponsered' a Cinco De Mayo party at one of the bars and it STARTED at like 7am. It was the Preston & Steve show in the morning that headed it up. (They had to get a special permit or something to serve alcohol that early.) Everybody took off work and were shitfaced by 11am.

Tom - Do you remember hearing, or did you ever go to it?

It was like a mini-Mardi Gras in Philly. Lots of flashing going on as well. :)

Then at the Suns game...
I don't even remember how many $1 beers before I met up with WTG. Lines were long, so I was buying them 2 at a time.

Eventually WTG and I went on a beer run 'upstairs' and I think we bought ALL of their remaining Amstel Lights. She hustled her ass of selling them back to the crew outside. Quite a feat since no one had a bottle opener.

Amazingly, I feel fine this morning. I'll have to see what damage I can do tonight. :)

Ah, ok. Sleep deprivation and Florida sun on a dehydrated girlie will do it every time.

Night night time for you...

BTW - Add 3 Corona's and a cherry limeade.

My neighbor's wife came over and told me there's gonna be some drinking going on tomorrow.

I've already been given my orders to get my ass to the pool after my 3pm meeting tomorrow and sneak in da booze.

There's just something about women in their 30's giving me orders to bring them booze that I find fascinating ;)

Oh yeah. Only two more meetings and I'm heading to the pool!

I really wish that bitch didn't take the mint plant. I was in the mood to make a pitcher of Mojitos. Ah well, have to settle for some Coronas and some plastic cups.

Anyway, Publix mint sucks.

I'll buy a new mint plant eventually. Fresh mint is mandatory for any self respecting bartender. ;)

I know WTG... That's what I was thinking. Perfect for bringing in to the pool. I've got a gigantic bag of limes too. Oh well, I'll use them for the Coronas instead.

I'm outta here for now. Might be back on later tonight for the mandatory drunky wrap up. :)

I dunno know how many Hefeweizens out of the kegerator last night walking back and forth between my neighbor's and my garage. (We're trying to empty it so we can get something different for next week's party.)

Well, I had loads of fun today at the B-day party. Who knew?

6 Heinekens, and 3 Blue Moons.

Boy did we have fun jumpin in the ginormous blow up castle that they rented. The adults took over at the end and I'm surprised no one smacked skulls together. Fun stuff!

I can't wait until next Saturday, I'm so stoked!

I thought about you this weekend when I was at Blue Fin. This chick and her husband sit down next to me at the bar. She proceeds to order a White Zinfindal for her and her husband. However, she then asks the bartender to please mix hers with half 7up. The bartendress and I exchange glances like, "Did she just say she wants a White Zin "Wine Spritzer?"
YUCK! As if White Zin weren't sweet and watered down enough.

How was your Riesling by the way?

Jager sure has come back in to favor as of late.

I remember when no one drank that shit unless it was freezing outside or they had a cold and wanted some 'cough syrup'.

I even saw some guy at Shannons on Friday order up a bomb, and ruin a perfectly good pint of Bass.

It's like Jager is the new Tequila.

Not saying that means much though...

Mon May 22, 09:33:00 PM
Blogger Maki said...

Yes, every Wednesday we go to the Ale House after dodgeball. Our team is the one wearing the obnoxious bright yellow shirts. When we get there depends on game time, I think we play at 7pm this week so we should be there relatively early...

This weekend I diversified and tried some different beers at Legends, the on-campus bar at ND. Had a Double Chocolate Stout, an Oatmeal Stout, a Spaten and a John Courage, which I haven't had in ages. Didn't get around to trying Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale, though. Next time!

Tue May 23, 06:38:00 AM
Blogger ANONYMOUS said...

Cool man! I'm not a big fan of Spatans, but the stouts are always interesting. As long as it isn't 90 degrees outside.
How 'chunky' was that double chocolate?

I like when the brewery also lists the specific gravity of each beer. Damn. I miss the good micro brew places... I'm considering trying some home brewing soon.

Tue May 23, 06:47:00 AM
Blogger Tracy said...

JDM: Did ya drink the Denmark brewery beers yet? I'll be interested to hear how they are...

Tue May 23, 08:04:00 AM
Blogger Maki said...

A: The double chocolate was only a bit thicker than a Guinness, with a slightly stronger flavor. It came in a very large can with a marble-sized widget inside. The oatmeal stout was thinner and more "lager-like." I didn't like it nearly as much. Still like Guinness the best, it's just the right weight to me. That's why I had 4 of those in addition to the others!

T: No, they sit in my fridge, waiting. I honestly haven't been home long enough to crack any of them open... And I have to be in a certain mood to drink beer at home alone anyway. Especially a beer that size!

Tue May 23, 08:21:00 AM
Blogger ANONYMOUS said...

I hear ya... I go thru phases with the Guinness. Sometimes I won't have one for a month, and others that'll be all that's in the fridge.

So, I'm assuming you like Caffrey's as well then? I haven't found it on draft in many places though.

Ooops, am I typing in the wrong post again?

I had a chocolate milkshake at lunch yesterday.

Ouwee.

Vacation hurts.

I think staying that extra couple hours broke me. No gym for me this morning and was an hour late taking my dog to the vet.

It's a bit fuzzy, but I think I remember getting yelled at by one of the door guys at Ale house while trying to take a drink outside to WTG. Something to do with some 'after hours' bullshit time limit of 2am.

I really don't even recall how many. I know I had 3 beers before I even called Maki... I'd have to guess 5 Bass, 5 Miller Lights, and a shot of Patron.

Oh, and there is nothing 'icky' about Patron. Although I do with they had Cabo Wabo instead.

Amazingly, my head-pounding is just about over. Gotta love the barking dogs at the Vet with a hangover though.

I am all for the medium or more steaks. Medium well is my choice and hey, I've never had intestinal worms, so I must be doing something right actually killing and cooking the meat before I eat it. Go figure!

7 Yuenglings and a Red Bull & Vodka. Date went... okay.

Sat May 27, 12:57:00 AM
Blogger ANONYMOUS said...

So, I guess neither of you will be ordering up Steak Tartar anytime soon, eh? hahaha.

Worms Shworms...OK fine, medium, but it breaks my heart. Maki, if you want Medium Well you'd have to take over at the grill at that point because I just can't do it. When my steak hits 135, it comes off the grill.

Maki - 7 Yuenglings? Do you remember the date to know that it went 'okay'? ;)

BTW - I really think we may have 'dented' that keg of Mich Ultra last night. Don't worry, there's still 'some' left for the real party today.

9 Mich. Ultras as we BBQ'd at the neighbors. Kind of a dry run for today. :)

Oh, and yes I was PASSED OUT by midnight. It was a long friggin day with doing all the yardwork and running all over creation to pick up stuff.

I've tried steak tartar... And it turned my stomach. I guess I just don't like the reminder that the meat was once alive at some point. I just found out it would cost like $120 for a half keg of Blue Moon at Broudy's. Crazy shit. No way I'm paying that. I think that's actually more expensive than buying it a case at a time.

They said they can get some Shipyard brand beers in 5 gallon sizes. I'll have to try a few six packs first to see if that's something I'm even interested in.
